Sweetness Overload!

The sweetness of this project is just too much to handle!! The owner (possibly the sweetest and most successful twenty something I know), the soft colors (this blush and navy combo gets me every time), and bright layout of this Adams Morgan one bedroom (just look at that edgy brick wall) had me wishing I had a place like this of my own before a husband and kid!
To be completely transparent, this client and I worked together in my past life (can you spot CEB's Effortless Experience book?) with a shared goal and client list so we were quite used to working together, which made this project even more fun and equally as sad when it was over! This being her first apartment, the client wanted to start fresh without blowing the budget and carefully select items that will carry her to her next place while creating a modern cozy home for at least the next two years.

Given the fluidity of the space, we selected a consistent color palette of soft blush and grey, accented with pops of navy and white. Inspired by vintage rugs, we found this replica at a price we couldn't ignore and set the stage for her living room space. The sofa was a DEBACLE- so much so that I frankly won't even get into it but this client was a patient saint for dealing with it and in the end she did get an amazing deal! Sofa aside, we selected a white end table with storage and switched out the knobs to brass to give it a more refined look. She needed a bit more seating but given the smaller space, a chair wasn't much of an option so we selected my favorite leather camp stool and then added a fur throw to a wooden stool she already had for another seat during Bachelor showing night! The apartment size coffee table added a touch of gold and glass to keep the space open and still provide enough space for dinner or apps when needed.

My favorite touch may be the console table. Originally we had planned to add a wardrobe but once the client settled in, she realized she didn't actually need that much more clothing storage. This allowed us to select something to add style and storage without taking up the entire wall. I love the petite size of this and it's perfectly organized inside with all her work/house everyday items.

With these large windows bringing in natural light and amble texture from the brick courtyard, the dining room didn't need much so we added a simple blue/white rug and modern artwork to compliment the living room color palette. As the dining room is directly off the bedroom, we didn't want to interfere with the pathway so we selected a 36" dining table and paired this with IKEA chairs she already owned. She has plenty of space to entertain while also maximizing the space for everyday life. And I had to add this sweet little plant!

The bedroom is adorable - it's so cozy but it receives little natural light so we kept the bedding white and accented with blue/white sheets, artwork, a lovely blush throw pillow, and warm navy throw. The headboard here was another debacle but eventually we got there and it looks amazing! We added a round gold mirror above her existing white dresser and updated her accessories for a fresh look.

Sweetness everywhere!! Xoxo, Caroline
