Modern French Kitchen Plans

If you read the new house reveal sneak peak, it's no surprise that I am obsessed with the original cast iron vintage farm sink and vintage cabinetry of the kitchen. While we were not able to use keep the original cabinetry and reach our goal of maximizing counter space, we do plan to repurpose this to the new laundry room (yay!) and we are doing our best to recreate this vintage vibe throughout the kitchen.

We are waiting for permit approval from DCRA but plan to start construction this week so that when we return from our mini escape to our cabin in Pennsylvania for the month of August, we'll come home to most of the major demo completed and appliances installed. The custom cabinets will be another few weeks but I know it will all be worth the wait!

To maximize the footprint of the kitchen, we plan to fill in the existing side door, take out the existing side window, tear down the existing wall between the kitchen and dining room, and tear out existing closets. We'll then create an L shape bar with seating, a side wall anchored with a french stove and custom hood, front wall centered with the original farm sink, and side wall with built in refrigerator and small office. I am so excited about each wall that I honestly can't pick my favorite! Below is a peak at the elevation plans and finishes with sources.

Stay tuned for updates from construction and our plans for the basement and master bedroom!

XOXO,

Caroline
